The Fine Art of Captioning

Published by carlarey under Uncategorized

It symbolizes the many different loves that can fill one heart…

Really?

No.

Sometimes they just happen, and you have to make up the symbolism afterward.

Familiar

Published by carlarey under Uncategorized

I was working away on this guy, just so happy with it from the very beginning, when it suddenly dawned on me. He bears a resemblance to my grandfather. To me anyway. Something about the eyes and nose. I’ll have to ask my mother if she thinks so.

My Sister Will Hate This One

Published by carlarey under Uncategorized

She thinks a lot of my work is…what was the word she used? Oh, yes, demonic.

I don’t think this one is demonic.

Granted, I wouldn’t care to wake up and find her staring at me in the dark…

Let’s Have A Break

Published by carlarey under Uncategorized

I am working on new pieces with some of my Scotland photos, but I am not happy with anything yet. So until I reach that moment when it suddenly says to me “Stop! I’m done!”, here are some images from Venice last year. Every where you go in Venice you glance up and find yourself being stared down at by some amazing face. Not some generic “I have never seen another human who doesn’t look just like me”, but an endless variety of races and ages. It’s fascinating.

Okay, Jane, Back At Ya

The guys went to the movies in Oban, and I stayed behind on the off chance that the clouds would break and give me a sunset to shoot. I’ve never been so happy I decided to blow off the movies. The view is from McCaig’s Tower, and unfinished grand gesture from the the late 1800’s.

This Has Been A Good Summer

Published by carlarey under Uncategorized

Lazy bits broken up by travel and fun. I am sure in a few days when he starts back to school and someone asks, my kid will swear he did nothing. Not one interesting thing all summer long, except for getting a WrestleMania video game. That’s probably what he will consider the highlight of his summer. Last night he told me loves me, and asked if I wanted to know why. Of course I did. “I love you because you buy me things.” There was only one response to that.

“Oh, sweetie. That’s exactly the same reason I love your father.”

Why Gray?

Published by carlarey under Uncategorized

Because any other color horse would have clashed with the barn.

All summer long my dogs have run into my bedroom anywhere from 5:15 to 6:30, jumping up and down in a dog imitation of “Get up!Get up!Get up! You’re gonna miss the bus!” Some days it was annoying, but usually, it didn’t really bother me. I like getting up early and feeling the world wake up around me. Finally the dogs have gathered from the general lazy pace around here, that no one is in danger of missing a bus, and that we are on vacation. They have figured this out THE WEEK BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS!

Yes, the week before we once again have to hit the floor running at 6:00 a.m., the dogs have decided to let everybody sleep in. Well, I adopted them because they are cute, not because they are brilliant.
